“What are we doing?” No response. “What’s in the bag?” Still no response. “Where–”
“You hate surprises, don’t you?”
“Of course I do.”
“Well, it’s just over here.” The stony path cut through the trees, revealing a charming playground with wooden equipment made to look like a French villa. The light of the full moon made it look whimsical. He had snuck in earlier and already spread a blanket at the top of the slide. He opened the bag to reveal a bottle of champagne. “Ta da.”
“Glasses?”
“Uh…”
“No matter.” She pressed a kiss to his cheek. “It’s perfect.”
