Madeline rolled her chair next to Paul’s. They were delivering today’s briefing together. She greeted the operatives who sat across from her.
Paul sat down beside her, but instead of beginning the meeting, he leaned over and whispered, “Have I ever told you how wonderful you are?” Before she had a chance to say anything, he pressed a button on the remote and started the briefing.
Wonderful? She tried to hide her smile, unable to focus on anything but her beating heart. When he was finished, she answered, “Not today.”
He grinned. “Then let me show you. No reciprocation allowed…”
