Birkoff punched the bag cautiously. He had taken up boxing to become stronger, but it wasn’t easy. The first time around, the bag beat him.
He turned. “Hey, Michael.”
“What are you doing?”
“Building some muscle mass.”
“I’ll help you. Hit me.”
“I’m not that good.”
“It’s okay. Give me everything you’ve got.”
“Okay…” He drew back his arm and threw it into Michael’s stomach. Surprisingly, the man doubled over and dropped to the floor, howling in pain. “Michael? Michael, are you okay?” He glanced at his throbbing fist. “Huh. I guess I don’t need any help after all.”
